Privacy Policy

Exemem is a privacy-preserving network for vectorized data: you can discover what exists across the network without exposing who owns it. That privacy posture extends to how we run the product itself. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we never collect, and how to turn off the optional usage and error telemetry.
What we never collect
Exemem is built so that the people operating the network cannot read your data. The following are never sent to us or to any third-party analytics service:
- The contents of your files, documents, or records.
- The text or vectors of your search queries.
- The results returned by a query.
- Your encryption keys or passkey secrets.
- Any personally identifying information beyond what is described below.
Usage & error telemetry
To find bugs and understand which features are useful, Exemem collects anonymous usage and error telemetry. This is on by default and disclosed at signup, and you can opt out at any time (see Opting out below). When you opt out, no further events are sent.
We use two services, each for a distinct purpose:

Anonymous, aggregated product events — which pages
and features are used and broad interaction patterns —
plus coarse technical context (app version, device type,
referring page). PostHog profiles are
identified_only: we do not build a profile
tied to your identity from anonymous traffic.

Both services may set a randomly generated identifier so that a sequence of events from one session can be grouped. That identifier is not linked to your account contents, your data, or your queries.
Opting out
You can disable usage & error telemetry in any of these ways:
- At signup: uncheck “Share anonymous usage & error data” on the registration form before creating your account.
- Anytime in the portal: open the developer dashboard and toggle off “Share anonymous usage & error data” under Privacy & telemetry. Your choice is saved to your account and applied immediately — no reload needed.
Opting out stops Exemem from sending further analytics and error events for your account. We honour the choice server-side, so it persists across devices and sessions.
Account & authentication data
To operate your account we store the minimum needed: your account identifier and passkey (WebAuthn) public-key credentials. Exemem uses passkeys, so we never store or see a password. Invite codes used during registration are stored to prevent reuse.
Data storage & encryption
Your data is encrypted. The network is designed so that operators cannot read your content or link entries to one another. Telemetry described above is handled separately from your encrypted data and never includes it.
Third parties
We share telemetry only with the processors listed above (Sentry and PostHog), each acting on our behalf to operate the service. We do not sell your data. We may disclose information if required by law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
